About Me
My name is Jan North and I am based in Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire and also work from my clinic located between Fenton and Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. I used self hypnosis to control pain during the birth of my son and over the years I have also managed weight gain, and stopped smoking. After years of using hypnosis to help myself I decided to start helping others.

Hypnosis - What is it?
Perhaps it’s easier to start with what hypnosis is not, as many people come to see me with preconceived ideas and fears, having seen stage hypnotists getting people to do strange things for the entertainment of an audience. Well, it’s not like that at all. Hypnosis is the process of guiding a person into a very focused state of altered consciousness, and to then talk to their subconscious mind. That’s the part of the mind that’s thousands of times more powerful than the conscious mind, and it’s the same part which harbours the anxieties, addictions, fears and behavioural habits which we seek to change or remove.
Hypnotherapy – What’s that?
It’s the process whereby a person in that relaxed state can be guided through imaginative ideas, stories, metaphors and suggestions which will help them change that unwanted behaviour, or to overcome the fear or phobia which affects their health, their life and their happiness. It’s easy and enjoyable and it’s immensely successful in the changes which can be brought about, quickly and painlessly.
Solution Focused – What’s that about?
There is a long list of ailments, behaviour patterns, problems, phobias, fears and anxieties which have been overcome through the use of hypnotherapy. I believe in solution focused therapy, which means we do not need to talk about your issues for hours and hours in order to get to the root of it. Rather, I acknowledge the issue and ascertain your goals. I can then carefully and compassionately find ways to make you feel better, quickly and effectively focusing on the solution, not the problem.
